PROPANE CYLINDER EXCHANGE CERTIFICATE
Complies with OHSA 851/90 Energy Act B149.2
Recommended for: All employees that exchange propane cylinders on Forklift Trucks, Sweepers or any device that require the exchange and storage of propane cylinders. Objective: To provide participants a general understanding of the safe and efficient handling of propane gas tanks. To identify specific health and safety hazards associated with changing propane tanks on industrial forklifts, Sweepers, Space Heaters etc. Benefits: - Reduction in Incidents (which lead to accidents) - Reduction in WSIB claims - Reduction in potentials for injury regarding removal and installation of Propane cylinders and there use Course Time: Theory: 1.5 to 2 hours, Theoretical Component (in Class) |

- Discuss energy act (B149.2) propane segment
- Review fines and penalties relating to non compliance with Ontario Energy act
- Define physical properties relating to propane, source as a by product
- Discuss hazards associated with handling and storage of propane
- Review “Cutout” views of actual parts of a typical propane cylinder/tank and talk about components and there functions
- Watch a video on proper cylinder exchange techniques
- Complete a propane theory test to verify learning
Practical Component (1/2 hour Per Person)
Upon completion of this program a wallet card for each participant will be issued and all necessary paperwork for company records as proof
of training (ROT).
- Review physical characteristics of a propane cylinder
- Complete overview of tank condition (“O” ring, collar, dating, soap solution check, etc)
- Review cylinder exchange procedures
- All participants will change a propane cylinder on an industrial forklift/sweeper or site specific device in a competent manner
- An evaluation report is completed on each person
Upon completion of this program a wallet card for each participant will be issued and all necessary paperwork for company records as proof
of training (ROT).
